Will the Jamal Adams contract set the market for other safeties around the NFL such as Tyrann Mathieu?

That was the question circulating around Twitter today after the Seahawks locked up Adams on a massive four-year, $70 Million deal.

Tyrann Mathieu made sure to slide into the comment section to weigh in on how valuable he believes he is to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Sure, Tyrann Mathieu will undoubtedly use the Jamal Adams deal as a negotiating chip when speaking with the Chiefs, or any other team if he hits the open market after the season.

But with where the two players are in their respective careers, I highly doubt Mathieu will get anywhere near $70 Million on a contract extension.

After the Seahawks gave up a massive haul to land Jamal Adams from the Jets, they had to know they were going to have to sign the star to a massive contract extension at some point.

Now guys like Tyrann Mathieu are champing at the bit to get theirs bags, as well.
