According to a report, Troy Aikman is close to inking a deal with ESPN to bolt from the Fox broadcast to Monday Night Football starting next season

The Troy Aikman on Fox era could be coming to an end.

The former star NFL Quarterback has spent the last 21 years calling games on FOX. This Sunday’s NFC Championship game might just be Troy’s last with Fox.

Aikman’s contract officially expires following the game.

There has been rampant speculation Troy will take a job covering Amazon’s Thursday Night Football. Troy spoke about Sunday’s game possibly being his last for FOX.

Via Star-Telegram:

“Those conversations are happening now,” Aikman said. “And I’m really being as honest as I can be about it. I really don’t know what it’s gonna look like when it’s all said and done and it does get settled. As to whether I’ll be working for Fox and Amazon, whether I’ll just be working for Fox or whether I’ll just be working for Amazon. I really don’t know what might happen.”

Might Sunday’s championship game tilt be his last game on Fox? “It could be, yeah. I don’t anticipate that but it could be,” Aikman said.

If Aikman did leave, this would most likely spell the end for Aikman and Joe Buck in the booth together. Which some fans may just be excited about.

As much as everyone loves to hate on Joe Buck, without Troy it won’t be as fun.
