Troy Aikman “On Verge” Of Leaving Fox For ESPN’s Monday Night Football Broadcast

The days of Troy Aikman and Joe Buck calling the biggest NFL games on Fox look like they’re coming to an end.

On Wednesday, it was reported that ESPN was “deep” in negotiations to pry Aikman away from Fox to join their “Monday Night Football” broadcast.

Per The New York Post:

“ESPN is deep in negotiations with Fox Sports’ Troy Aikman to make him its lead analyst on “Monday Night Football,” The Post has learned.

Aikman’s deal is not completed yet, but there is an expectation that it will be finalized. Aikman has also been courted by Amazon.

The exact figures of Aikman’s deal are not yet fully finalized, but for him to leave Fox it is expected to be comparable to or exceed Tony Romo’s 10-year $180 million deal with CBS.”

The article would go on to say that if Troy Aikman jumped ship, Fox would be prepared to replace their longtime color man with fan-favorite, Tony Romo.

For a long time now, the Monday Night Football broadcast has been lamented for the poor personalities they bring on board. And undoubtedly, Aikman would be a big get for ESPN.

It appears that a network shuffle is in the works for NFL broadcasters. And perhaps Troy Aikman is just the first domino to fall.
