Tom Brady Has Telling Comments On “The Patriot Way”

Tom Brady spent 20 years with the New England Patriots. Just imagine spending 20 years at one job. Same boss, same city, same culture. It must be hard not to let it define you. That certainly happened with Tom Brady. He was the New England Patriots, and the “Patriots way” for so many years.

After Brady made the switch to Tampa, it kind of opened up our eyes a little bit. It was like.. oh wait, Tom Brady has a side of himself that is actually kind of likable. Brady himself said he was taken back a little bit when he realized that there’s more than one way to win in the NFL.

“When you’re in one place for 20 years, you think that’s the only way,” Brady told ABC’s “Good Morning America” in an interview that aired Wednesday. “And I think when you go to a different place, you realize, ‘Wow, there’s another way that people do things.'”

Brady went on to talk about how he embraced the ‘different’ when he arrived in Tampa Bay.

“I think that’s a great part about football,” Brady told GMA. “It’s not really about what you did last year. It’s kind of, what you’re going to do this year. So, for me, it was what I was going to do for the Bucs last year. I still feel that way.”

“That’s a big part of what I understood last year: Things are gonna be different. I try to work within what’s currently happening, but still try to do the best I could do. All of it was really, really amazing — obviously with the way the season ended — so it was a great year.”

It seemed to me like Tom Brady liked Bruce Arians’ way a little bit better than Bill Belichick’s. In Tampa, Brady got to call the shots, he got all the credit, and he got to have fun.

I wouldn’t bet against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers repeating as Super Bowl Champs next season.
