The fans who swarmed online retail and sporting goods stores were always making a big gamble. After all, Tim Tebow had no experience at tight end, and there was never any assurances that he was going to be on the final roster.

Sure enough, Urban Meyer and the Jaguars brass made the tough decision to cut the former Heisman Trophy winner on Tuesday morning.

With Tim Tebow getting cut, the question now becomes, “what happens to all the jerseys?”

Well, anyone who bought a #85 Tebow Jaguars jersey is going to have to live with the purchase. Unfortunately, ‘jersey assurances’ don’t apply to players who get cut.

“Although the league, through Fanatics, provides “jersey assurance,” the fine print becomes very important in situations like this,” Mike Florio of PFT writes. “The program applies to trades only; there’s no protection if the player is cut or retires.”

Honestly, anyone who made the move to buy a Tim Tebow Jags jersey now has somewhat of a novelty item that could be kind of cool for some people.

Despite the failed tight end experiment, we should be seeing Tebow Jacksonville jerseys here and there for a long time to come.

Maybe they’ll serve as a reminder that the guy actually tried to become a tight end at one point.
