Fan Slams “Soft” Austin Rivers For Getting Him Kicked Out Of Game After Heckling The Rivers Family

A heckling Thunder fan called out Austin Rivers for being "soft" after he was ejected from the game for heckling Rivers' family all night long

Despite carving out a decent NBA career for himself, Austin Rivers will never shed the “Doc’s Son” label. And he once again had to hear it from opposing fans on Wednesday night.

After Rivers drained a three against the Thunder, he immediately had some fans sitting near court-side ejected for being “punks” and heckling him about his family.

“I don’t mind it most nights,” a clearly pissed-off Austin Rivers said after the game. “But, it was constant. Every time down the floor, they were saying something about my dad. Somebody said something about my sister. That’s when I was like, ‘OK. I’ve had enough.'”
Austin continued, “You could say I suck, that’s fair game. But, you talk about my family? Like, what are we doing here?”

Sure enough, one of the fans appeared to reveal himself on Twitter. But rather than stand up for himself, he basically admitted to the line of heckling, calling Austin Rivers “soft” for having him tossed.

Luckily for this Thunder fan, he was only ejected from the game. And things didn’t escalate with Austin Rivers.

Heckling a player all game is pretty childish to begin with. But I get it, we’ve all been there. But to talk constantly about a dude’s family might be where we should draw the line.

The fans got the last laugh, though, as the Thunder ended up defeating Austin Rivers and the Nuggets 108-94.
