There’s a Perfectly Good Reason the NBA Has No Plans To Change Its Logo

The NBA logo has remained the same for decades. For those who don’t know, the iconic NBA logo is actually just a silhouette of former Lakers legend Jerry West. The idea to change the logo has been discussed for several years, even Jerry West doesn’t care if the logo gets a rebranding. Yesterday the logo talk was once again sparked by Kyrie Irving, who suggested Kobe Bryant should be the new logo.

Now we’re learning why the NBA isn’t in any rush to change the logo. Reportedly their current logo is free.

Unless Kobe’s estate would be willing to license his image for free, the NBA would most likely have no interest in using his likeness.
