Fans of the SEC were expecting a big week of football looking ahead to this weekend. Sadly, it doesn’t look like they will have very many options. Wednesday morning the SEC announced another that another game has inevitably been postponed due to COVID. Following several other scheduled SEC football games, the Georgia vs. Missouri game has now been postponed.

The COVID-19 crisis continues to strike the college football season. SEC fans have to be disappointed with the way things are panning out in their conference. Earlier this week, the SEC announced Mississippi State vs. Auburn, Texas A&M vs. Tennessee, and Alabama vs. LSU all would not be played this weekend. That makes the Georgia vs. Missouri game the fourth game to be postponed in the SEC in a single weekend.

So far, no date has been established for the Tigers and Bulldogs to make up their game. And if the SEC is any model for the rest of the college football season, it definitely doesn’t look good. The worst part is that postponed games are just one part of the big picture in the SEC. Auburn paused football activities one day after its game vs. Mississippi State was postponed. And Arkansas coach Sam Pittman will not coach this week at No. 6 Florida after testing positive for COVID-19 on Sunday.

The story in the SEC, and all of college football, continues to look pretty grim. COVID doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, so some major changes are going to have to be made if we want to see the rest of this college football season. A season that has already been significantly shortened.
