The Eight Teams Who Were After Deshaun Watson Have Been Revealed

A new report suggests when the probe into sexual assault against Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson will finish

Before Deshaun Watson was accused of sexual assault by over 20 different massage therapists, he demanded to be traded by the Houston Texans. Obviously, he was a hot commodity on the trade market.

Since the lawsuits against Watson started to mount, teams have backed off their pursuit of the quarterback. For a while, it wasn’t clear which exact teams were making calls to trade for Deshaun Watson. Now, it’s being reported that eight teams were after him.

Per Pro Football Talk:

Via John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, eight teams had shown interest in a trade for Watson. They were the Jets, Dolphins, Panthers, Broncos, 49ers, Patriots, Bears, and Washington.

Things have changed since these teams made their push for Deshaun Watson. The Panthers traded for Sam Darnold, the Jets are likely to draft Zach Wilson, the Dolphins seem committed to Tua Tagovailoa, the Broncos will likely draft a QB, the 49ers will also look for a QB in the draft, Washington got Ryan Fitzpatrick, and the Bears have settled for Andy Dalton.

Some of these teams might shake up their plans at QB with the NFL Draft on Thursday, but none of those plans will include Deshaun Watson–who would be lucky to play at all in 2021.

We’ll see what the future holds for Deshaun Watson.
