Well, this was pretty convenient for the LSU football program. LSU has been undergoing a NCAA probe this year as officials were looking into allegations that boosters were paying the football players. I’m not really sure what more evidence the NCAA needs to see, Odell Beckham Jr. was literally handing out wads of cash to LSU players after the National Championship Game last season.
However, LSU has decided to get in front of the whole thing. The university announced today that it will be imposing a one-year postseason ban on the football program.

This actually could not have come at a better time for the LSU Tigers. Their team is very bad this year, and they might not have made a bowl game anyways. Nevertheless, Ed Orgeron spoke on the “ban”, and actually sounded a little disappointed.
“I respect the university’s decision to proactively address NCAA issues from the past,” coach Ed Orgeron said in a statement via Game 7. “I share the disappointment of our student-athletes who will not be able to compete this season in a bowl game. I am especially proud of our players’ dedication to the program during these unprecedented times in our country,” he continued.
“Their pride in LSU will be the driving force as we continue to build a championship program. Geaux Tigers.”
We’ll see if the NCAA comes down with any further punishment on the Tigers.
