Now that the NBA regular season has come to a close, the MVP debates will begin to heat up. Some names atop of the race include Giannis Antetokounmpo, LeBron James, Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis. In a very unusual season, we do see a lot of familiar names in the MVP race. The reigning MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo, showed significant improvement this season and dominated as a result.

While LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Luka Doncic were spectacular, Giannis is the frontrunner to win yet again. Former 2-time NBA MVP Steve Nash also pins Giannis as his pick for MVP this season.

“You’d be happy with any of these guys,” Nash said. “They’re all incredible, incredible players, having historic seasons and careers. I think it’s hard to pick anyone other than Giannis given that he won it last year and he’s elevated his game and his team’s game this year.”

“He was probably the best defensive player in the league, putting it together with his offensive contribution,” Nash continued. “The (Milwaukee) Bucks team as an offense. The way he’s kind of a point-center. He’s so versatile on both ends of the floor. It’s hard to not give it to him, but that doesn’t mean other guys aren’t deserving.”

Antetokounmpo, 25, averaged 29.5 points, 13.6 rebounds, 5.6 assists and shot 55.3% from the field this season. Less than a full calendar year after winning MVP, Giannis hit another gear and put up video game game numbers this season. The Bucks also secured the top seed in the Eastern Conference yet again after going 56-17.

Usually, NBA MVP picks are a controversial topic year in and year out. But, the last two seasons Giannis’ performance has been impossible to top.
