Stephen A. Smith Thinks Baker Mayfield’s Career is in Jeopardy: ‘That’s How Sorry You Look’

Stephen A. Smith from the top rope.

The Carolina Panthers lost another game this past weekend, and are now 1-3 on the year. They lost a home game to the Arizona Cardinals 26-16. Baker Mayfield was not great, to put it nicely. The former #1 draft pick completing only 22 of 36 passes for 197 yards and one TD to go with two interceptions. He also racked up a fumble. Mayfield is Carolina is very much looking like the same average QB he was during his tenure in Cleveland. Yeah, he hasn’t been dealt a stellar hand given Matt Rhule is his coach, but the former No. 1 overall pick is missing easy throws and making awful decisions. The guy who led the Browns to their first playoff appearance in a decade in not even looking like a starting QB.

Stephen A. Smith addressed Baketr Mayfield directly on First Take and said he’s played so poorly his career is in jeopardy.

Watch below:

Saying his career is in jeopardy might be a stretch. What he should be saying is his starting QB future is in jeopardy. You only get so many chances to prove yourself in the NFL and Baker is selling himself as an incompetent starting QB. You would think a chance of scenery is exactly what Baker needed, but nope, more of the same. Mayfield could get benched for Sam Darnold at some point but we’re not quite there yet. My guess is if it was anyone else but Sam Darnold he may have already been pulled.

Hopefully Stephen A. Smith’s message gets Baker’s attention.
