Steelers Ben Roethlisberger Expected To Retire At End Of Season

Pittsburgh Steelers long-time QB Ben Roethlisberger is expected to retire following the 2021 – 2022 NFL season.

While it may come as a surprise to some, many expected and hoped he would have retired already.

ESPN NFL insider, Adam Schefter reported on his social media profiles Saturday that Roethlisberger has privately told players and people inside the organization that this would be his last year.

Realistically, Ben could have easily retired last season as this year is showing that he truly does not have what he needs to be successful for the Steelers anymore.

The Steelers are 5-5-1 this season and are on the outside looking in at the playoffs. Ben has just passed for 6.6 yards per attempt this season which is one full yard lower than his career average and while his 14 TD to just 6 INT ratio is not bad at all, when you watch him play this season, he just doesn’t look competent anymore to lead an NFL contender.

Roethlisberger and the Steelers welcome the 8-3 Baltimore Ravens on Sunday in a divisional matchup.
