Nationals To Keep Starlin Castro Away From Team Following Domestic Violence Incident

The Washington Nationals revealed their plans to leave Starlin Castro away from their team after he was suspended 30 games for violating MLB"s domestic violence rules

After a brief investigation, the MLB announced on Friday that it was suspending Washington Nationals veteran infielder Starlin Castro for a domestic violence incident.

“Having reviewed all of the available evidence, I have concluded that Mr. Castro violated our Policy and that discipline is appropriate,” MLB commissioner Robert Manfred Jr. said via CNBC.

Shortly after Starlin Castro’s suspension was announced, Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo said bluntly, “I do not plan on having him back” this season after the announcement was handed down by Major League Baseball.

“We take all allegations of abuse and harassment very seriously,” the Nationals said in a statement about Castro. “We fully support the Commissioner’s decision and will be releasing Starlin Castro upon the completion of his suspension.”

Castro’s punishment for violating the league’s rules on domestic violence will include an undisclosed fine. And the MLB did not provide any details on the alleged incident involving Starlin.

This isn’t Starlin Castro’s first issue with disturbing allegations. When he was a member of the Chicago Cubs, a sexual assault lawsuit was dropped against him.

We’ll see if Castro ever plays baseball in the MLB again.
