Ever since Clay Helton was fired during the early going of the college football season, a bunch of prominent names have been mentioned to attempt to turn the storied program around. But now, a crazy report is indicating the Jeff Fisher is actually being considered for the job.

Luckily for Jeff Fisher, you can’t go 7-9 or 8-8 in college football (or the NFL now for that matter). But that didn’t stop fans everywhere from making jokes about the report linking the former NFL coach to the vacancy at his alma-mater.

Jeff Fisher likely still has some friends who are boosters at USC, which would explain why his name is being mentioned among some of the A-list candidates.

In my opinion, it would be a stretch to expect 63-year-old Fisher to come into a college town and win at this stage of his life. But who knows, weirder things have happened.

I’d still be truly shocked if USC turns to Jeff Fisher. But if they do, we’d have 7-9 jokes coming in for a long time to come.
