Social Media Has Jokes After Chicago Bears Announce That Former Texas Longhorns HC Tom Herman will Join The Staff As A ‘Special Projects’ Coach

Former Texas Longhorns head coach Tom Herman will be joining Matt Nagy and the Chicago Bears staff this season with a position that I have never heard of in my life.

Herman was announced as the team’s new offensive analyst/special projects coach.

Twitter had a good time with Tom Herman’s new position.

As a Chicago Bears fan, I can confidently say that hiring someone to handle ‘special projects’ is pretty terrifying. If we look at the quarterback position alone, the Bears have had enough ‘special projects’ during my lifetime than I can even think of. Can we please chill with the projects?

On a more serious note, the Bears have completely clogged their coaching staff with offensive minds. Between head coach Matt Nagy, OC Bill Lazor and QB coach John DeFilippo there are already too many cooks in the kitchen. What is Tom Herman really going to bring to the table? The Bears don’t even have a serviceable quarterback on their roster.

Unless Tom Herman can bring Deshaun Watson or Russell Wilson to Chicago, I don’t see how he’s going to provide anything for an offense that has been nothing short of disappointing for the past two seasons. I don’t care how many ‘special projects’ he has up his sleeve.
