Significant Changes Could Be Coming For the New Orleans Pelicans

Going into the 2020-21 NBA season, the New Orleans Pelicans commanded a lot of excitement and hype after several offseason moves. After losing Anthony Davis, the Pelicans had a return of Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and selected Zion Williamson with the top pick.

After several injuries during the season, the Pelicans have fallen to the 13th seed in the Western Conference. According to a report from David Aldridge of The Athletic, big changes could be coming this offseason.

As transcribed by Larry Brown Sports

“David Aldridge spoke with some sources in Orlando about the Pelicans, and they told The Athletic reporter that Ball “looked like he’d checked out the whole time” the team was at Disney World. Those same sources said they expect some significant changes to the New Orleans roster heading into next season.”

After several setbacks to Zion Williamson during the season, the Pelicans did not gel properly. To add, the suspension of the NBA season did not help this young team grow. The Pelicans have already been looking for a new head coach for next season to replace Alvin Gentry.

At the end of the day, it is no surprise a lot of players came to the bubble rusty. With all of the madness with COVID-19, the rust is justifiable. The Pelicans are still very young and have a solid core with Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and Lonzo Ball. The best thing they can do is move onto next season and focus on remaining healthy.
