Shohei Ohtani is running away with the AL MVP award thanks to an unprecedented ability to dominate at the plate and on the pitcher’s mound.

But unfortunately, Sho-time was the subject of a different kind of story this week.

Detroit Tigers analyst Jack Morris was suspended and reprimanded by the team after making an insensitive joke when Shohei Ohtani came to the plate.

After the incident, Shohei Ohtani took the high road when talking about Jack Morris.

“I did see the footage and I heard it on the video. Personally, I’m not offended, I didn’t take anything personally,” Shohei Ohtani said. “I have no say to what the Tigers wanted to do or what they did with him. He’s a Hall of Famer. He has a big influence in the baseball world, so it’s kind of a tough spot.”

After suspending Jack Morris due to the Shohei Ohtani comment, Bally Sports Detroit cited their “zero tolerance” for discrimination as the reason.

Jack Morris would apologize later in the game, but it wasn’t enough for him to keep his job.

Unfortunately, this likely isn’t the first time that Shohei Ohtani has encountered racism or discrimination during his professional baseball career.
