Shaq Admits He Used To Be A Steph Curry Hater

Shaq is no doubt one of the most outspoken commentators the NBA has ever seen. When it comes to criticizing the league’s young players the man doesn’t hold back. As such, it should come as no surprise that Shaq has an opinion about one of the NBA’s star players – Golden State Warriors PG Steph Curry. Shaq recently appeared on the “All The Smoke” podcast with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson and admitted he wasn’t always a fan of Curry’s game. It took him a while to realize how great Curry actually is.

Shaq’s reasoning for hating on Curry early on is definitely an interesting one.

“I used to hate on him early on in his career,” Shaq said.

“(I’d say), ‘He ain’t gonna make that,’ but he kept proving me wrong and that’s why he’s my best player.

“I like being proved wrong, so my message to these young cats: When I say something, prove me wrong.”

Shaq admitted that Steph Curry, alone, has changed the game of basketball. For that reason, he now regards him as one of the most influential players the league has ever seen.
“Steph probably is the most influential player when it comes to little people, right? ‘Cause I see a lot of little guards – like little kids – I’m going to these tournaments, they’re doing stuff I can’t even do,” Shaq continued. “And it’s good and bad.”
And if you have watched the NBA at all over the past month you have to agree with Shaq. Steph Curry just does things that other people simply can’t do. Thanks to Steph, the Warriors have the playoffs in sight, but without him, you can’t help but wonder where they would be.
Curry has proven to Shaq and the rest of the NBA community that he is one of the best players the league has ever seen. And at this point, there is no denying his greatness.
