22 November 2009: Guard Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder speaks to head coach Scott Brooks while playing against the Los Angeles Lakers during the second half of the Lakers 101-85 victory over the Thunder at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, CA.

Scott Brooks has had enough of Russell Westbrook wasting his energy on dunks. The Washington Wizards coach talked about his ban of Russell Westbrook dunking during practice today.

“He’s got about 5-7 years left. 2349 dunks left. He won’t admit it but it take a lot to get up there…protect him from his own wiring, his own mindset. I know how he practices, just trying to save him from himself,” Scott Brooks said today via Quinton Mayo.

Brooks even doubled-down on his “no-dunks” order for Westbrook, saying he’ll make the rest of the team run if Russell Westbrook dunks during practice.

Russell Westbrook seems to be taking Scott Brooks’ order pretty seriously. Check him out avoiding dunking at all cost during Wizards practice.

Russell Westbrook has a history with Scott Brooks from their days together in OKC, and it looks like they get along great. We’ll see what’s in store for Westbrook and the Washington Wizards, maybe this situation will bode well for him. I’d love to see Russell Westbrook succeed. When he’s at his best, he is one of the most dynamic players in the NBA.

Scott Brooks is probably right, its best Westbrook saves his explosive dunks for game day.
