After many years at the helm, it’s suddenly looking like Sean Payton has second thoughts about continuing his run as the head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

The offensive guru turned heads after it was reported that he is currently mulling his future. And has not decided yet if he wants to return to New Orleans next season.

When speaking on Sean Payton’s future, Saints owner Gayle Benson added to the uncertainty on the future of the longtime head coach in New Orleans.

“Who knows?” Benson responded when asked about Sean Payton’s intentions for 2022. She added, laughing: “We’ll find out soon enough, I guess. I don’t think any of us know, but he’ll let us know soon enough.”

Does Gayle Benson know Sean Payton is leaving New Orleans?

Gayle Benson still having no idea what’s going through Sean Payton’s head bodes pretty bad for Saints fans who don’t want to lose their head coach.

For a long time, Payton was able to work with Drew Brees as his quarterback for the Saints. But after Brees retired, Payton was suddenly working with the revolving door of Jameis Winston, Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian as his QB this past season.

Perhaps Sean Payton has plans to take some time away from football, or go somewhere with a more promising future on the offensive side of the ball.
