Ryan Day Speaks On Rumors Linking Him To The Chicago Bears Job

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day spoke on the rumors that it was possible he'd take the Chicago Bears head coach job to link back up with Justin Fields

Would Ryan Day leave Ohio State for the NFL?

The one job that would make the most sense for Day would be the Chicago Bears. Obviously, Day has past experiences with quarterback Justin Fields. And pairing the two together in the NFL could bring the Bears back to prominence in the NFC North.

Sure enough, reports started swirling earlier in the week that Ryan Day’s agent has been in discussions with the Bears.

Now, just because Ryan Day’s agent may have interest in a front office job in Chicago doesn’t necessarily mean that Day will join him to become the head coach.

And when asked about the rumors on Wednesday, Day maintained that there was no merit to any of it.

“There’s nothing to it,” he said.

Ryan Day is under contract with Ohio State through the 2027 season. But as we’ve seen in years past, there are ways around that when push comes to shove.

While Day has enjoyed a great deal of success during his time with the Buckeyes since taking over for Urban Meyer, 2021 has been a little different.

After losing to Michigan for the first time in a long time, the Buckeyes now find themselves on the outside looking in to the College Football Playoffs.

Ryan Day’s Buckeyes still earned a trip to appear in the Rose Bowl against Utah on New Years Day.
