So far, the Russell Westbrook project has not gone according to plan for the Lakers.

The point guard has brought his erratic style of basketball with him to LA. And it’s clearly not doing the team any favors. The Lakers currently sit at a disappointing 21-21 on the season, good for seventh place in the Western Conference.

On the year, Russell Westbrook is averaging 18.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game while shooting 43.7 percent from the field.

His blooper reel is a sight to behold, as well.

When speaking to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, Russell Westbrook admitted that he has to make the “biggest sacrifice” for the Lakers to turn their season around.

“We’re all trying to figure it out as a team, as a unit, to be able to say, ‘Ok, how can we figure this out?’” Westbrook said. “And I know I’m the one who has got to make the biggest sacrifice — and I understand that — so I’ve got to be able to figure out a way to be able to make the best out of it and make the best for this team and that’s it.”

Russell Westbrook would go on to say that he’ll need to figure out an adjustment to his game in order to get his teammates more involved.

“Trying to figure it out,” Westbrook said. “I mean, we still don’t have the answer. We done changed the way we play a couple times (laughs). Just for me, it’s trying to figure out the best way to be able to implement how I play the game with this team.”

We’ll see if the Lakers look into dealing Russell Westbrook at the deadline, or if they keep him around when trying to get back into contention with the top teams in the league.
