Ron Rivera Gives Some High Praise To Bengals QB Joe Burrow

Washington Football Team head coach Ron RIvera pointed to his medical history as one of the reasons he's "beyond frustrated" with the unvaccinated players

Going into the 2020 NFL draft the top two picks were virtual locks prior to draft day. The Bengals were almost certainly going to pick Joe Burrow at no. 1, which left DE Chase Young for The Washington Football Team at no. 2. As you all know, that is precisely what happened. However, if the Bengals had decided to go a different route, Ron Rivera says the WFT was fully prepared to draft Joe Burrow. Rivera praised Burrow in a recent statement, calling him the “full package”. See what WFT Coach Ron Rivera had to say about Bengals QB Joe Burrow below.

“We feel like championships are won by playing good defense. We felt pretty strongly about him (Chase Young). The only other option we felt was a viable one for us was Joe Burrow and obviously, he was taken by Cincinnati,” Ron Rivera said, via SI.com. “We think Joe is the full package. We really do. We think Chase is the full package. Depending on what Cincinnati did, that’s what we were going to do. The opposite. We didn’t think we would lose out either way. We really didn’t. We think both players are going to be great players and have great careers and we’re fired up that we have Chase.”

The decision for coach Ron Rivera to draft Chase Young was pretty much a no brainer, however, that is some high praise of Joe Burrow. You have to wonder what the quarterbacks in Washington are thinking after hearing that statement from their coach.

On the other hand, you can’t blame Ron Rivera for being honest. Pretty much any team would have been happy to draft a quarterback who was coming off as great a season as Joe Burrow.

Sorry, Dwayne Haskins, but your coach was ready to bench you before the season even began.
