Rockets Analyst Caught On Hot Mic Criticizing James Harden: ‘He Quit’

DO NOT USE FOR AWESEMO POST

Rockets analyst Calvin Murphy accidentally let the world know how he really felt about James Harden after the Rockets’ loss to the Pacers on Wednesday night. Murphy stated that Harden was off his game, however, he did the right things to get others involved. After the cut to the commercial, you can hear Murphy utter the words “he quit”.

Oops. Unbeknownst to Calvin Murphy, the mic is always hot, even when the transition music comes on. The Hall of Famer offered some harsh criticism of Rockets star James Harden, who had 15 points (5-of-14 shooting), 12 assists, and four rebounds against the Pacers. There was a slight undertone of positivity, as he stated Harden made up for his poor shooting with his playmaking. Unfortunately, the bottom line for Murphy was that Harden was poor in the fourth quarter and gave up.

Harden is averaging 29.4 points through five games this season. While that seems good, we still have yet to see him have that breakout scoring night that we know he is capable of. However, as Calvin Murphy highlighted, Harden’s ball distribution has been a bright spot in his game so far this season. The all-star has had multiple games finishing with double digits in the assist column.

The big question mark for the Rockets continues to revolve around the future of James Harden. His trade request certainly hasn’t been forgotten about and the rumors persist. On the other hand, he seems to have developed a positive relationship with head coach Stephen Silas, even if he would rather play for a bigger contender. But if Harden is noticeably giving up in the fourth quarter when down it doesn’t make him an easy piece to move for the Rockets.
