Robert Saleh Speaks On The Viral Story About Brian Kelly Making Him Work His Party

Jets head coach Robert Saleh speaks on the story of Brian Kelly making him and Matt LaFleur shovel his driveway back in the day

Back when Matt LaFluer and Robert Saleh were graduate assistants for Brian Kelly at Central Michigan, they got an invite to a party at the head coach’s home.

But it wasn’t what they signed up for.

Shortly after arriving, Brian Kelly put Matt LaFleur and Robert Saleh to work; making them shovel snow and park and retrieve cars for his actual guests throughout the evening.

After the story resurfaced, Robert Saleh was asked about Brian Kelly during Jets media availability this week.

According to him, the story was a bit overdrawn.

It seems like Robert Saleh is taking the high road here. But there was probably something to the whole story about Brian Kelly unfairly making him work back in the day.

When the story originally dropped in 2019, Saleh said he made a pact with Matt LaFleur that they would never treat people in the same manner Kelly treated them.

“We decided that when we’re in that position, we’re never going to treat people the way we got treated,” Saleh said in 2019.

Robert Saleh would go on to say today that he actually wanted to join Brian Kelly in South Bend when he became Notre Dame’s head coach. But things didn’t pan out.

Obviously, Saleh has nothing to gain by slamming Kelly shortly after he took the LSU job, so it’s not overly surprisingly that he deflected when asked about the story.

It’ll be interesting to see if any of Brian Kelly’s Notre Dame assistants join him in Baton Rouge…perhaps that’ll be the most telling indicator of how he treats his colleagues than anything.
