Former Jets head coach Rex Ryan didn't hold back when speaking about how soft the current team plays under first-year head coach Robert Saleh

Rex Ryan putting his foot in his mouth again.

The former NFL Head Coach may have just forgot that Dwayne Haskins is no longer with us, because he made some comments about him today that struck a chord with social media. During an intense back and forth about NY Giants starting QB Daniel Jones, the former head coach made it a point to show just how right he’s been on several quarterbacks.

Rex brought up Josh Allen and how he said “Baker Mayfield was overrated as hell.”

Things then got a little awkward when he brought up Haskins name.

“I’m the same guy that said Josh Allen was clearly the best guy in his draft class. And I said, ‘Baker Mayfield is overrated as hell.’ Remember I said that? And I also said Daniel Jones would be the second quarterback drafted when he came out. Ahead of this guy, this ‘Haskins’ that everybody raved about, that I knew would struggled in the National Football League.”

Michael Irvin and Stephen A. Smith made sure to jump with: “God rest his soul,” basically to remind Rex that Haskins was deceased.

“I know it … and I shouldn’t have said it, but..”

Social media weighed in on Rex’s comments:

Dwayne Haskins was killed during an accident on I-595 in Florida back in April of this year. According to the toxicology report, he had alcohol levels of .20 and .24, both of which are above the legal limit in Florida of .08.

Rest in peace Haskins.
