The Las Vegas Raiders placed rookie WR Henry Ruggs III on the COVID-19 list on Tuesday. With this roster adjustment, Ruggs will not be eligible to play Thursday’s crucial game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Raiders have continuously been in trouble with COVID-19 throughout the season. Tight end Darren Waller held a charity event early in the year where multiple Raiders teammates participated in without masks. Ten players were fined.

Las Vegas was eventually stripped of a draft pick and fined $500,000 when they violated COVID-19 protocol in regards to Trent Brown’s positive test. The entire offensive line was placed on the COVID-19 list.
Including head coach John Gruden’s multiple times for failing to wear a mask, the franchise has accumulated $1.2 million in total COVID-19 related fines. Losers of three of their last four, the final three games for Las Vegas are pivotal for a playoff birth. After losing to Indianapolis 44-27, the Raiders stand at 7-6, one game behind the 7th seeded Miami Dolphins.

Their one win in their last four contests came at the hands of Henry Ruggs III. He caught the game-winning touchdown with five seconds remaining to put the Raiders on top of the winless Jets 31-28. Despite being the first receiver drafted in what appears to be one of the deepest drafts in the position’s history, he ranks just ninth in yards with 414 over 11 games, well behind Justin Jefferson 1,078 yards for the rookie lead.
