College Football Coach Offers To Buy Beer For Entire Stadium To Get Fans To Show Up

Portland State head coach Bruce Barnum stood by his word and bought beer for every fan who showed up to his team's home opener over the weekend

While we’re seeing college football fans back packing stadiums all over the country, it isn’t so easy for some programs.

Take Portland State, for example. Their 0-2 team fails to come close to filling their stadium, which only holds about 7,000 fans.

So coach Bruce Barnum is trying to take matters into his own hands. In an effort to pack the Portland State stadium, Barnum has a dead serious offer: he’ll buy beer for everyone who shows up.

“I’ve got a deal for you,” Barnum said, “Anybody who heard me your show… just say ‘I heard Barney on the BFT’ at the Barney Beer Garden and I’ll buy your beer.

“I’m not buying your ticket, but I’ll buy your beer.”

You gotta hand it to Bruce Barnum. The man just wants people to come see his Portland State team play.

“I’ve got to get people to see my kids. I like my team,” said Barnum.

If I’m a Portland State player, I’m loving all of this. Despite being 0-2, your coach is willing to spend money out of his own pocket to get you some exposure.

Hell, I might even have to book a trip over to Portland this weekend.
