Pelicans Reportedly Alter Entire Team’s Meal Plan In Order To Keep Zion Williamson In Shape

Pelicans center Zion Williamson took blame for his lazy antics after it was announced that he was being shut down once again after a setback

Since Zion Williamson entered the NBA, the biggest conversation surrounding the dynamic star has been centered around his weight.

Once again, Zion showed up to the Pelicans looking overweight this season. And apparently the team is done standing idly by as he gets bigger and bigger.

According to ESPN reporters Brian Windhorst and Andrew Lopez, the Pelicans have tried a number of different methods to tailor to his dietary needs. And recently, the team even switched out their culinary team to one that better suits his needs.

“The Pelicans have poured resources, time and energy to protect Williamson’s health,” they report. “They have changed members of the staff and even changed some of their culinary practices in an attempt to support him. They have talked with him about protecting his body from extra hits.”

Zion Williamson has been out for the entire season after sustaining a foot injury in the offseason. And it’s currently unclear when he’ll be cleared to begin on-court activities.

The Pelicans have not locked up the big man on an extension yet, and he has showed signs of frustration with the lack of talent around him in New Orleans.

For Zion Williamson to be successful in the NBA he’ll likely going to need to get out of New Orleans. And he’ll probably needs to do a better job maintaining his physical shape, too.
