Paul Pierce Reacts To Jayson Tatum Banking In Game-Winning Shot

23 April 2013: Boston Celtics small forward Paul Pierce (34) during game two of the first round of the NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs at Madison Square Garden in New York City, NY The Knicks defeated the Celtics 87-71 to lead the series 2-0.

Paul Pierce made banking in game-winning shots cool, and today, Jayson Tatum had his Pierce moment. With the Celtics trailing the Milwaukee Bucks by one, Tatum took the ball for the last second shot. He chucked up a prayer three-pointer over Giannis Antetokounmpo, and it somehow found its way off the glass and into the net.

As Paul Pierce would say, “I didn’t call bank, I called game”. Well actually, he did say that. Pierce took to Twitter after Tatum’s shot to ‘call game’ for the young Celtics star.

There ya go, the G.O.A.T has spoke. Doesn’t have to be pretty, as long as it holds up on the scoreboard. Here was Paul Pierce’s ‘I called game’ moment at the end of his career with the Washington Wizards.

Tatum spoke on his game-winner after the game.

“Ever since I was a kid, I always wanted to be in that position,” said Tatum via Associated Press. “If it goes down or not, that’s what I work so hard for. You just want to be in that moment.”

Actually, Tatum’s three almost didn’t hold up. 0.4 second were left on the clock, and Giannis was fouled on the inbound. Luckily for Tatum and the Celtics, he would go on to miss the second free throw, which would have sent the game to OT.

Wild finish for the Celtics, who somehow got to 1-0 on their season.
