Paul George did not like the way he was being used in Doc Rivers’ system. George went on All The Smoke Podcast with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, and talked about how he thought he was being used improperly last season.

“The way I was being used, I felt Doc was trying to play me as a Ray Allen or a JJ Redick, all pin-downs. I can do it, but that ain’t my game. I need some flow, I need some mixes of some pick-and-rolls, post ups, diff. touches. Last season was hard,” George said about playing for Doc Rivers.

That wasn’t the only knock on Doc Rivers that Clippers players had, either.

According to The Athletic, Clippers players weren’t very fond of the “special treatment” Kawhi Leonard got from Doc.

“How do you ever build a strong team with that shit going on?” one team source said via The Athletic article. “I thought from the beginning, ‘We’re doomed. Kawhi wants too much special treatment.’”

So, it looks like it was best for Doc Rivers, Paul George, and the rest of the Clippers to go their separate ways. It’s hard enough to win in the NBA. It’s even harder with all that turmoil. We’ll see if we see a different Paul George this year. According to him, it was Doc that was tying him down.

Maybe I’m old-school, but I’m not really into all the bashing. Just prove yourself on the floor, Paul George..
