Draymond Green sparked an interesting debate due to his recent comments about his skills on defense. During an appearance on the ‘Dubs Talk’ podcast, Green said “I think I’m the best defender to ever play this game.” Several players were quick to answer the call, refuting Draymond Green’s statement. Now, Paul George has come out and stated who he thinks the best player to ever guard him is. He gave his vote to Milwaukee Bucks guard Jrue Holiday.

Paul George definitely isn’t the only player to disagree with Draymond Green’s statement. Earlier this week, Tony Allen tweeted “BIG [cap]!!! Who stamped you? Who you clamp!? In the words of Jay Z! ‘We don’t believe u, u need more people!’”

Green had a stern response to Allen’s tweet. “I was waiting on you to stamp me Big homie, but your stamp book started running low in 2015 when we used you against your team on the way to my 1ST championship.” By the looks of it, Paul George isn’t going to be the player to end this debate.

In fairness to Paul George, it’s not like he came out and named a scrub. Holiday has made the All-NBA Defensive Team twice thus far in his career. Despite that fact, his defense isn’t usually the main thing that gets talked about in his game. He can be an elite scorer and distributor as well.

So do you agree with Draymond Green or Paul George? Probably neither. There are several elite defenders in today’s game. One of them is even a running mate to Paul George in Kawhi Leonard. There is no doubt that Draymond Green is an elite defender, however, calling himself the best to ever play the game is a stretch.
