Patrick Mahomes Wants To Lead Chiefs To 20-0 Record This NFL Season

A Dolphins writer went viral after he made an open plea with commissioner Roger Goodell to ban Jackson Mahomes from all NFL games in the futur

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has some lofty goals for he and his teammates. We have the expanded NFL schedule to thank for the former MVP’s latest source of motivation.

In an interview at a charity golf event to benefit his foundation, 15 and the Mahomies, the best quarterback in football today was asked what records he has his eye on for the upcoming 2021 NFL season.

To Mahomes’ point, a 20-0 record is now a possibility after the NFL expended the regular-season schedule from 16 to 17 games. That being said, an unblemished season is a whole lot easier said than done.

Only one team has ever completed a perfect season in league history. The 1972 Miami Dolphins won all 17 of their games en route to capturing the Super Bowl VII title.

Although some teams have come close, the Dolphins’ perfect season still stands alone. The New England Patriots came the closest to matching Miami’s perfection in 2007. After a 16-0 regular season, the Patriots won each of their playoff games to advance to the Super Bowl before ultimately falling to the New York Giants in an unforgettable game.

After the way Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs ended last season by getting crushed in the Super Bowl by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a 20-0 season seems all the more far-fetched.

But hey, you’ve got to give him props for being goal-oriented.
