Packers Decision To Cut Receiver Jake Kumerow Reportedly ‘Death Knell’ For Aaron Rodgers Relationship

It’s no  secret that Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is fed up with his organization. It has been widely reported this past weekend that Rodgers has told the Packers’ brass that he will not be returning to the team next season under any circumstance, and that he will retire if the team does not grant his trade request.

While many things led Aaron Rodgers to be so fed up with his front office, cutting journeyman receiver Jake Kumerow might have been the nail in the coffin.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Packers surprising decision to release Jake Kumerow during final cuts last season “drove Rodgers nuts” and and was “described as a little bit of a death knell in the relationship”.

The worst part about the whole Kumerow ordeal was that the Packers decided to let go of the receiver just days after Rodgers publicly praised him during an interview.

“Jake Kumerow has been such a solid performer for us for the last couple years,” Rodgers told Sirius XM NFL Radio, via PackersNews.com. “I love his reliability. I think he’s a fantastic, steady player who’s very heady on the field, he makes plays. He plays with a lot of confidence, and he’s a guy you love having on the squad.”

A lot of moves that the Green Bay Packers have made in recent years have pissed Aaron Rodgers off. It looks like releasing Jake Kumerow was just one of them. This relationship between Rodgers and his organization certainly appears to be broken beyond repair.
