Over the weekend, a video of Valdosta High School head football coach Rush Propst accusing Georgia head coach Kirby Smart and Alabama head coach Nick Saban of paying recruits made its rounds. The video is extensive and refers to several different allegations, but Propst specifically refers to former Georgia running back, and now Cleveland Brown, Nick Chubb. Propst alleged that Chubb took three different $60,000 payments from Georgia to return for his senior season in 2017 instead of entering the NFL Draft. Nick Chubb took to Twitter to respond to the allegations.

You kind of have to take Nick Chubb’s comments with a grain of salt. It’s not like he would pull a Walter White and openly come out and say “you caught me”. However, I am sure his former coach Kirby Smart appreciates Chubb openly denying the allegations.

Propst also alleged that Georgia’s program has a ‘handler’ and that some recruits are being paid between $90,000 and $150,000 to sign with the Bulldogs. Nick Chubb didn’t speak up about anything like that, but he openly denied taking any money, himself. It’s hard to table allegations like these, but it is even more difficult to find the paper trail this far down the road.

Do we believe that Nick Chubb wasn’t paid a dollar for his time at Georgia? I will leave that decision up to you. All I know is that paying players does happen. I think we all realize that at this point. Not everyone is as sloppy as Tennesse when it comes to doing it, though.
