NFL Talent Is No Scarcity In The 2020 ACChampionship Golf Tournament: Ranking The Top 5 Players That Could Sack Tony Romo For The Title

I don’t know if there could possibly be a better time for a celebrity golf tournament than the middle of a global pandemic. Former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo will be chasing a three-peat in the 2020 ACChampionship Tournament. However, Romo is not the only golfer representing the NFL at the Edgewood Tahoe course in Nevada. Let’s take a look at the top five NFL stars that could give Romo a run for his money.

5) Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs, QB

Mahomes is a massive underdog at 500-1. I don’t know if he has a real shot to win, but it didn’t seem right to leave the highest-paid player in NFL history off the list. Mahomes has had a busy week, but he’s ready to play some golf with his boy Travis Kelce (Chiefs TE) and several other of his celebrity friends.

No better way to spend his newly acquired money than on some ice-cold beer. I highly doubt he actually has to pay for it, but that’s beside the point. As a Chiefs fan, I have to point out the irony in his beer of choice. Coors is brewed in Colorado, home of the Chief’s divisional rival Denver Broncos.

4) Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams, WR

Kupp is less of a dog than Mahomes at 150-1 odds to win the ACChampionship. He will be paired with fellow NFL players Adam Thielen and Case Keenum. If Kupp’s hands are anywhere near as good on the golf course as they are on the gridiron, then I like his chances. He will also be playing for a great cause.

3) Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers, QB

Rodgers is an ACChampionship veteran. Like Kupp, the Packers QB is coming in at 150-1 odds to win the title. He is an extremely accurate passer and is above-average on the green. I like Rodgers to represent the NFL and make some noise in an attempt to dethrone Romo. I’ll stop there, as I can’t think of anything else positive to say about him at the time.

2) Adam Thielen, Minnesota Vikings, WR

I personally didn’t know Thielen to be a golfer and was surprised to see him come in at 50-1 at Lake Tahoe. In terms of football, Thielen is a guy I am very high on entering the 2020 NFL season (if there is one). He’s in for a volume increase with the trade of Stephon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills. Thielen is an electric player on the football field when healthy and I’m excited to see him hit the links.

1) Case Keenum, Cleveland Browns, QB

Last, but certainly not least, is Case Keenum. Yes, he is still in the NFL. Keenum is currently the backup quarterback for the Cleveland Browns and is a former teammate of the aforementioned Thielen. He is the favorite of the pool of NFL players at 22-1 odds to win the title. Not only is Keenum the favorite of the NFL talent at Tahoe, but he’s in the top 10 of the 72-golfer field. Honestly, I will be happy if anyone other than Tony Romo wins. Make me proud, Keenum.
