The Indianapolis Colts have officially submitted a proposal that would guarantee each team a possession in overtime.
The Colts have submitted a proposal to guarantee each team an OT possession, according to a league source — if approved, the rule change would apply to regular AND post-season. Again, unclear how much support there is for such a change.

This has been a hot topic inside the NFL world over many seasons. The NFL rule currently is the team who possesses the ball first can win the game with a touchdown, but the other team will get a chance to score to tie if it is a field goal or to win if they score a touchdown.
Many fans hate the rule. If you are a Buffalo Bills fan you are hoping this rule will see both teams have a chance to get the ball as the Bills were on the wrong end of the stick against the Kansas City Chiefs in this year’s playoffs.
It is still wild to me that the NCAA and NFL have very different overtime rules.
Fans took to social media once again on Sunday to discuss the possible change in the rule.
Every time one of their “Golden child” players gets beat in OT….you can bet rules will be tweaked. 😂

Just implement the college overtime rules and be done with it. It’s not that hard.

Just stop, people cry too much. You don’t need to give into every single team that cried about this

They need to play 7 on 7 as well, a la @NHL overtime.

If you’re person that believe the @NFL should change OT rules so each team gets a possession. I want you NEVER complain about the NFL getting soft. Cause that’s soft as hell. It’s sudden death. Tell your defense step TF up or go home. Simple.

If the NFL Competition Committee changes the OT rules then it only means the Bills are better at complaining than they are at playing defense.

Fans still remain a little divided as many like the sudden death portion of it, while others think football is a different bread and needs to see both offences get a chance.
The rule change will need 24 of 32 team votes to get passed.
