If This Was It For The Nassau Coliseum, Oh What A Way To Go Out

New York Islanders fans gave Nassau Coliseum a perfect farewell on Wednesday night, if this does end up being the end

It was in the back of every Islanders fan during Game 6 on Wednesday night (whether they’d admit it or not): What if this is the last game in Nassau Coliseum?

Well, if it was, the Islanders and their raucous fan base sent the old barn out with an absolute bang.

The Islanders came back from a 2-0 deficit in the potential elimination Game 6. And Anthony Beauvillier sent the Nassau Coliseum into an absolute frenzy with a goal on the first shot of OT.

The Islanders will now travel to Tampa Bay for Game Seven on Friday night, which means if they lose, this will have been the last party at Nassau Coliseum.

The UBS Arena is set to open as the new home of the Islanders this fall, which means New York’s run of playing games at The Barn for 46 of their 49 years of existence will come to a bittersweet end.

After the thrilling finish finish resulted in fans throwing their beer cans up in the air in pure jubilation, Beauvillier wrapped up the old-school essence of Nassau Coliseum perfectly in his postgame interview.

A bunch of Islanders fans had heartfelt things to say about Nassau Coliseum after the electric Game Six win.

For the Islanders long existence, Nassau Coliseum has been one of the most (if not the most) electric venues in the entire NHL.

It would be unreal to see Stanley Cup Finals games at The Barn in its final year. But if not, Wednesday night’s banger will have to suffice.
