NASCAR’s Racist Ray Ciccarelli Would Rather Quit Than Drive Without Rebel Flag

NASCAR finally caught up to 155 years of American history on Wednesday, officially banning the Confederate flag from all events. The flag was a stark reminder of the racist virtues behind the failed and conquered Southern republic, the one and only message it carries. There is no debate here, only the right move by NASCAR and some bigots making a lot of angry noises.

The decision was met with broad praise

But, of course, not everyone was on board. Numerous bigots racists fans sounded off about their misconstrued rights, southern heritage and plenty of other entirely illegitimate arguments. The biggest boldest stance by far was taken by NASCAR Truck Series driver Ray Ciccarelli in a now-deleted Facebook rant that would make your conservative uncle wince.

“Well, it’s been a fun ride and dream come true but if this is the direction NASCAR is headed, we will not participate after 2020 season is over, I don’t believe in kneeling during Anthem nor taken ppl right to fly what ever flag they love. I could care less about the Confederate Flag, but there are ppl that do and it doesn’t make them a racist all you are doing is fucking one group to cater to another and i ain’t spend the money we are to participate in any political BS!! So everything is for SALE!!”

From his writing, it’s clear that Ciccarelli is working from a limited intelligence and just doesn’t get the issue. A driver who most definitely gets it is NASCAR’s Bubba Wallace. Wallace is the sport’s only full-time African-American driver, and his comments three days ago were the impetus behind the decision to ban the flag. Speaking to CNN, Wallace said:

“There should be no individual that is uncomfortable showing up to our events to have a good time with their family that feels some type of way about something they have seen, an object they have seen flying. No one should feel uncomfortable when they come to a NASCAR race. So it starts with Confederate flags. Get them out of here. They have no place for them.”

Wallace debuted his glorious new car, emblazoned with the phrase Black Lives Matter, for Wednesday night’s NASCAR race.

While NASCAR did not just solved racism, things like this help immensely Every small battle won brings us one step closer to winning the war. Something the Confederacy knows little about …
