Mike Leach Is Not A Fan Of COVID Protocols

Mississippi State head football coach Mike Leach is never afraid to speak his mind. He is widely considered to be one of the more unique personalities in all of sports. He has also been deemed somewhat of an offensive guru. As his Mississippi State team deals with receiving positive COVID tests this week, Leach shared some of his thoughts.

The SEC announced today that Mississippi State does not have enough available players to play their scheduled game with Auburn this Saturday. This comes as the program has been dealing with an influx of players testing positive for the virus, triggering NCAA COVID-19 protocols. Consider Mike Leach among the people who are not pleased with these protocols.

Leach threw shade at this decision, but may have done it subtly enough to avoid any fines or penalty from the NCAA. Mike Leach went on to talk about how he thinks he already had the virus. He recounted an experience from earlier in the year where he felt he was sick with COVID-19.

“I did have pretty much all the symptoms,” Leach said via the Clarion Ledger. “If I were to bet, I would definitely bet I had it then. Then two weeks afterward this article comes out in the paper and talks about all the people that were contaminated at that point in Boston. I guess there was kind of a pandemic doctors convention at the same convention hall that the sports symposium was at. So there was several thousand people. So I suspect I got it then.”

Mike Leach definitely sounds like a guy who isn’t buying into the severity of COVID-19. He’ll follow all the protocols, but he doesn’t seem happy about it.
