Michael Brockers Apologized To Jared Goff After He Threw Him Under The Bus In Wake Of Matthew Stafford Trade

LANDOVER, MD - OCTOBER 11: Los Angeles Rams Quarterback Jared Goff (16), Defensive End Michael Brockers (90) and Defensive Tackle Aaron Donald (99) lead the team out of the tunnel prior to an NFL game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Washington Football Team on October 11, 2020, at FedEx Field in Landover, MD. Former Rams defensive lineman was the subject of what was probably the most awkward story of the offseason.

Brockers was a Ram when the team traded for Matthew Stafford, shipping Jared Goff to Detroit. At the time, Brockers was quick to call Stafford an upgrade over Goff.

“Is it a level up? In my heart, deeply, just understanding what [Stafford] brings, it’s a level up [over Goff]. It’s a level up,” Brockers told TMZ Sports.

Michael Brockers spoke way too soon. A few weeks later he was traded to Detroit, once again joining Jared Goff.

Now, Michael Brockers has revealed that he apologized to Jared Goff upon his arrival in Detroit. He also downplayed his comment to TMZ.

“I just wanted to come to him as a man and let him know that I have so much respect for him, that wasn’t any shot against him — just trying to pump up the Rams’ (fan) base,” Brockers said, via Chris Burke of TheAthletic.com.

This has to kind of suck for Michael Brockers. Here he thought he was going to be making a run at the Super Bowl with Matthew Stafford, but instead he’ll once again be paired with Goff on the rebuilding Lions.

I wonder if Jared Goff is a little miffed at Michael Brockers for talking smack right when he left L.A. Good thing they play on separate units, and don’t really have to interact much.
