Mets Pitcher Tommy Hunter Had The Best Reaction To Getting His First Big League Hit

The New York Mets have had quite the week.

First, Kevin Pillar was drilled in the face by a fastball from Braves reliever Jacob Webb. Not only did Pillar take the nasty injury like a champ, but he even shared sympathy for the pitcher who hit him.

On Tuesday night, Mets pitcher Tommy Hunter smacked a ball into left field for his first MLB knock.

After the game, Hunter was like a kid in little league with how excited he was about the hit.

“Walking into the box, and I’m like, ‘My heart is beating so fast,’” Hunter said to reporters. “It was. I was nervous. And then I got a hit in the big leagues. I’m telling you, man, it’s the coolest thing I’ve ever done. My wife sent me a video. My son was watching it. I mean, I don’t know. That’s definitely a highlight for me.”

After a sluggish start to the season, the New York Mets are starting to find their groove a little bit. And if Tommy Hunter’s enthusiasm is any indication, they’re having a whole lot of fun in that locker room.

Sometimes we get a reminder that baseball is truly a kids game played by men. Tony La Russa should take some notes.
