Superstar Francisco Lindor has started his long tenure with the New York Mets with an uncharacteristic slump. No worries, he’ll snap out of it, right Mets fans? Nope.

Unfortunately for Lindor, New York sports fans aren’t very patient. In fact, they have already started to boo Francisco Lindor, and it’s only April 27th.

Former Met Jose Reyes wasn’t the only person critical of Mets fans for booing their highly-coveted star player.

I get it, it is not very fun to be a Mets fan right now. After starting the season with lofty expectations, the Mets have started the year 9-9. However, they do sit atop the standings in the N.L. East (for whatever that’s worth this early in the year). The Mets have also been such a disaster for the better part of the last 20 years, that their fans often just expect the worst. Lindor’s early performance isn’t helping.

After being given a $341 Million extension prior to the season, Lindor is batting just .210 with one home run and three RBIs.

Mets manager Luis Rojas was asked about the boo birds coming out for Lindor on Tuesday night.

“Our fan base is very passionate,”  Rojas said via The New York Post. “They support our team. They want everyone to perform consistently. We feel that.”

My advice for Mets fans as it pertains to Francisco Lindor would be simple…RELAX. The guy has been one of the best players in all of baseball for a while now. If you need re-assurance that Lindor will be just fine, just look at the back of his baseball card.

We got a long season ahead of us New York, no need to panic just yet.
