Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford caught a bunch of flak on social media after a viral video caught him immediately walking away from a photographer who fell down the Super Bowl Parade podium on Wednesday.

After revealing herself as NFL photographer, Kelly Smiley, the woman announced that after being left high and dry by Stafford, she went to the emergency room. She was later diagnosed with a fractured spine.

After it was announced that a GoFundMe page was set up to cover medical costs for Kelly Smiley, Matthew Stafford finally stepped up. The QB and his wife, Kelly Stafford, announced that they will cover all costs for the fallen photographer.

“We have been in communication with Kelly Smiley … and we are sorry for what happened,” the Staffords said in a statement.

In Matthew Stafford’s defense, he was clearly hammered at the time after a long day of celebrating. And there’s likely no way he could have known the severity of Kelly Smiley’s injury at the time.

But at the end of the day, it seems like the veteran quarterback has made amends.
