Master P And Baron Davis In The Works To Buy Reebok From Adidas

Former NBA great Baron Davis and rapper Master P are poised to buy Reebok from Adidas. The price tag isn’t for the average joe as it is reportedly being sold for $2.4 billion. Baron Davis began his playing career in Nike sneakers, however, he eventually made his way to Adidas. A shoe that he believes is still being undervalued today.

“I think Reebok is being undervalued,” said Davis, according to Forbes. “I left Nike as a 22-year-old kid representing myself and made the jump to Reebok, which took a chance on me as a creative and as an athlete. I want the people I know — athletes, influencers, designers, celebs — to sit at the table with me.”

Baron Davis’ business partner, Master P, also looks to write his own legacy with Reebok. The dynamic duo aims to make Reebok the first black-owned sneaker brand in the shoe industry.

“These companies have been benefiting off us, this could be history for this company going Black-owned,” Master P told ESPN.

Adidas acquired Reebok in 2005 for a reported price of $3.8 billion. However, the Germany-based sneaker company didn’t get to see much success with Reebok which prompted their decision to sell it instead. Master P and Baron Davis wouldn’t be making the purchase without taking on a great deal of risk. But the two believe the purchase would create a great opportunity for independent shoemakers to get on board and have their products distributed as well.
