A sad day for Maryland Basketball.

The University announced this week that Basketball assistant coach Bruce Shingler has been suspended for 30 days after he was arrested for soliciting a prostitute.

This is Shingler’s first year at the school. Not exactly off to a great start.

Via CBS Sports:

“Shingler allegedly responded to an advertisement posted by an undercover law enforcement officer on the “women seeking men” page of a website, The Baltimore Sun reported. He and the detective exchanged texts, agreeing to meet at a hotel in Largo, Maryland. Once at the hotel, police said Shingler agreed to pay $80 for sex before an arresting unit was alerted, according to the documents obtained by The Sun. He is set for a Feb. 28 trial date.”

At least they gave him a slap on the wrist for his indiscretion.

Maybe next time he figures out a way to be a little more discreet.

A sad day for Maryland Basketball indeed.
