Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares was receiving many thoughts and prayers after he had to be stretchered off the ice on Thursday night. Tavares was checked to the ice, and caught an inadvertent knee to the head from Canadiens forward Corey Perry.

After the Maple Leafs would go on to lose 2-1 to Montreal, Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe spoke briefly on the condition of John Tavares.

On Friday morning, the Maple Leafs released a statement, saying that Tavares has, thankfully, been sent home from the hospital. He will remain out ‘indefinitely’.

This is some good news on John Tavares. But i’m sure his recovery is far from over. Hopefully he can continue to work through whatever injuries he suffered from the scary collision, and we see him back on the ice soon.

I don’t expect him to make an appearance for the rest of the playoffs.
