Seattle Seahawks veteran tight end Luke Willson thought better of his new contract after spending a night sleeping on it.
Willson agreed to a one year deal with the Seahawks on Tuesday. But after thinking about it, he decided to just hand up the cleats officially on Wednesday.

“After signing with the Seahawks yesterday, I have decided to walk away from the game of football,” Luke Willson wrote. “This offseason I went through some health issues and spent numerous days in the hospital with a severe pericardial effusion. That situation has really challenged me as an individual and changed my perspective on a lot of things with regards to my life. After reflecting on everything yesterday and being in the building, I have decided that it’s time for me to begin with the next chapter of my life.”

The 31-year-old Luke Willson was a consistent producer on Russell Wilson’s Seahawks offense for the past eight seasons. And he had nothing left to prove in the league.
Over his career, Willson 11 touchdown passes, and was always an above-average blocker.
Sure, he may not have gone the conventional route into retirement, but it seems like Luke Willson simply knew it was time to call it quits.
All the power to him.
