Jimmy Kimmel learned the hard way that the internet never forgets.
Kimmel apologized on Wednesday for using blackface to impersonate NBA Hall of Famer and former Utah Jazz great Karl Malone on “The Man Show” over 20 years ago. He issued this statement on Twitter regarding the skit that happened in the mid-90s.

The skit is neither funny nor racially sensitive, a very bad combination in today’s media age as #CancelKimmel began trending on Twitter. Considering it happened 25 years ago, Jimmy Kimmel will likely get a pass for this one by his fans due to his public support of the Black Lives Matter movement and the sincerity of his apology while those who detest the typically liberal late night host will point to it as a “double standard.”
Kimmel is currently taking a break for a few months from his show and the timing seems to be right there.
